Bio
Boots Hackman trained in art at Brighton Polytechnic and West Sussex College of Design, where she then went on to work in film animation in London for 5 years. After a long break from art she moved to Devon in 2011 and joined a life drawing group. This rekindled her creative spark, and she explored collaging as a medium, rediscovering her childhood love of snipping and sticking.
Recently she has developed from collaging with found materials to creating her own specific printed palette of papers, creating a variety of textured surfaces with materials such as vegetation, lino cuts and collagraphs printed onto a gelli plate, which is then assembled as a collage.
Having initially worked on figurative and still life collages, she is currently working on a series of landscapes inspired by the English countryside, exploring the differing terrain of farmland, coasts and wetlands.
